It’s a beautiful day in the mountains. The dogs are on the lawn and the sun is shining bright. The kids are off for the summer from local schools today, so activity in the center of town should be lively.
Today we are taking a blog trip to Aspen, Colorado to investigate a restaurant that immediately caught my eye. I don’t know about you, but if I could have a charcuterie board following me around in life at all times I’d be better off. So, when Meat & Cheese Restaurant was placed in front of me, I didn’t hesitate to investigate.
Dog-friendly with expansive menus and an outdoor area, Meat & Cheese delivers on atmosphere and quality. Both a market and restaurant, you can eat in or take elements of a charcuterie (or a pre-crafted one) back to where you are staying.
The menus, as I said, are expansive. There is more than meat and cheese on the menus, with a caviar board and quesabirra tacos. Their lunch menu has sandwiches, as well.
Of course, it’s Aspen, so there is an Après menu. With any menu, I go immediately for the cheese board, which is present on all their menus, but, for me, an afternoon cheese board is the best. For a hearty afternoon meal, check out the steak board. With a butcher’s cut of steak, seasoned potatoes and a light salad, you’ll be fueled after those mid-morning ski runs.
Their dinner menu is full of great options, many of which also appear on the lunch menu - so don’t worry if you can’t make it for lunch or dinner, you’ll still be enjoying what they have to offer. The Bossam Korean Pork Board sounds like a delicious option for dinner, preempted by the Guacamole and Aspen Pimento Cheese and posted by the Flourless Chocolate Olive Oil Cake.
Don’t. Forget. The. Cocktails. That Jalapeño Margarita is sure to enhance any cheese, but if you’re not into tequila, the wine list is superb.
Now, about that dog…
Meat & Cheese has outdoor dining on the beautiful Aspen sidewalk outside the front of the restaurant where you can dine with you canine. A tree-lined street with a beautiful view of the mountains, you’re sure to enjoy a casual afternoon with you pup and a friend after hitting the slopes. And what dog doesn’t like meat and cheese?
